Published Oct. 16, 2005

The company that runs the Hernando County Jail donated $1,000 to Hernando County Community High School on Tuesday morning. The money, donated by Corrections Corp. of America, will help finance the Principals of the Alphabet Literacy (PALS) computer system at the high school. The program is directed at remedial readers. The computer system will be used by high school students during the day and at night by adults enrolled in the literacy program, said Denise Moen, literacy coordinator for Hernando County.
