Man charged in attempted arson of home

A 25-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday after he tried to firebomb his girlfriend's apartment, police said. John Keith Lowman set up a homemade firebomb behind Stella Bryant's apartment at 3812 N Avon Ave. late Tuesday night, police said. The bomb did not explode.Police arrested Lowman at his apartment at 703 E Lake Ave., where they found several rags soaked in gasoline and an empty liquor bottle that also smelled of gasoline. Lowman was being held without bail at the Hillsborough County Jail on charges of firebombing, a jail spokesman said.

Game-throwing woman scares intruder PLANT CITY - A man armed with a knife entered a mobile home early Wednesday, but ran off after two women awoke and threw objects at him, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office report. Donna Weeks, 26, 1615 Hall Road, was sleeping in the living room when she woke up at about 3 a.m. to see a man in a stocking mask staring at her. Weeks said the man demanded money and threatened to kill her and a house guest, Tammy Proctor, 25. Proctor hit the intruder with a board game, apparently scaring him away. He was described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s, 6 feet, 220 pounds, wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt.

Masked men rob family in their home TAMPA - Three armed men broke into a North Tampa home Tuesday night and robbed the family living there, police said. No one was injured.

Police gave this version of the incident: The masked men armed with handguns entered the house at 6505 N River Blvd. through an unlocked rear window. They forced 66-year-old John C. Kansriddle to open his safe and took cash and other valuables.
