MIAMI - Two men face possible life sentences after being convicted in the attempted robbery of an armored car, the U.S. attorney's office and the FBI said Wednesday. William Kimmons and Howard Small were found guilty in federal court of conspiracy and attempting to rob an armored car. The life sentences would be handed down under the Armed Career Criminal Act.
FBI agents arrested Small and a co-defendant, Bruce Lee Berta, last July 31 as the two waited outside a store for an armored car to come for sales receipts. Agents had been watching the pair for five weeks.
