Study says more people are eating rice these days

The Department of Agriculture's Economic Research Service says per capita consumption of rice increased from 15.3 pounds in 1983 to 17.6 pounds in 1987, up 15 percent. Of the 17.6 pounds consumed each year, 13.2 pounds is consumed in plain grain rice, flavored rice mixes, frozen foods, breakfast cereals, soups and baby foods.
