Keswick Christian trimmed St. Paul's 41-39 and St. Petersburg Catholicblasted Lakeside Christian 55-28 and advanced to the semifinals in the Class A, District 10 girls basketball tournament Thursday night.
The Crusaders play top-seeded Bradenton Christian at 8 tonight in one semifinal game. The Panthers, rated No. 8 in the Class A state poll, downed Shorecrest 47-39 in the nightcap Thursday night. St. Petersburg Catholic plays Sarasota Christian at 6:15 in the opening semifinal game. Sarasota Christian, seeded second, defeated Bradenton-St. Stephens 74-24.
In the opening game on Thursday, Keswick came from behind and outscored St. Paul's 14-6 in the fourth quarter to win. The Crusaders were down 33-27 after three quarters, but center Evie Stratis and forward Christi Brock dominated the boards for Keswick in the final period. Stratis ended the game with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Brock scored a team-high 13 and grabbed 12 rebounds. St. Paul's was led by Claire Roach's 21 points.
In the second game, the No. 3 seed Barons controlled the game against Lakeside Christian from the opening tip. Three players scored in double figures for SPC.
