College seeks soccer recruits

Soccer coaches and counselors from MacMurray College of Jacksonville,Ill., will visit Tampa Tuesday on a recruiting trip for the Division III school.

An open house will be held at the Guest Quarters Suite Hotel in Tampa from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and people who might be interested in playing soccer or attending a small liberal arts school are encouraged to attend.

Dan Wood, a former Jesuit High School player, is a member of the MacMurray team.

Jacksonville coach Bill Killen established recruiting ties in Florida when he was a United States Soccer Federation staff coach.

Berkeley Prep volleyball players sign with Furman

TAMPA - Berkeley Prep volleyball players Jennifer Wilson and Sarah Altemose have signed national letters of intent to attend Furman University.

Wilson, a 5-foot-9 setter/middleblocker, was a first team all-state selection who teamed with Altemose, a 5-foot-5 defensive specialist.

The pair led Berkeley to the state championship and a No. 20 national ranking in 1989.
