Lawyers named to circuit panel

Two area lawyers have been chosen as members of the Pasco-Pinellas Circuit Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee B. St. Petersburg lawyer William F. Blews, local representative on the Florida Bar's governing board, announced the state Supreme Court's appointments of Robert M. Focht of Land O'Lakes as the new committee chairman and Donna S. Cox of Dade City to a one-year term on the committee. Other members include New Port Richey lawyer Gregory Gay and nonlawyer public member Leonard Roe. Twenty-nine local committees in Florida consider complaints regarding unlicensed practice of law and provide reports of their investigations to the Florida Bar's Standing Committee on the unlicensed practice of law. The Standing Committee then makes recommendations to the Florida Supreme Court regarding prohibition of the unlicensed practice of law in an effort to protect the public.
