Michigan woman killed, 2 hurt in 2-car accident

A 26-year-old Michigan woman was killed in a car accident Friday morning on U.S. 301, officials said. Sandra Lynne Fischer, a passenger in a 1986 Chrysler, was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 8:16 a.m., a hospital spokesman said.

She was riding north on U.S. 301 with driver David John Fitnich of Valrico when the accident occurred near Sabal Industrial Boulevard at about 7:25 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Fitnich, 34, apparently didn't see a 1979 Pontiac headed south and turned into its path from the left turning lane, officials said.

The Pontiac struck the Chrysler on the right side, critically injuring Fischer. Fitnich and the Pontiac's driver, Laura M. Dasilva, 40, 3706 Meadow Breeze Drive, suffered from minor injuries, officials said.

No charges had been filed as of Friday.
