Rutland's to close for 2 weeks

ST. PETERSBURG - Rutland's Department Store will close today for atwo-week inventory and will re-open March 5 for a close-out sale. The sale will continue through approximately April 15, when the merchandise is sold out. Rutland's Department Store, at 501 Central Ave., is closing due to lack of business. It opened as Rutland Brothers Department Store in 1916.

Man held on child porn charges ST. PETERSBURG - A Treasure Island man is being held in the Pinellas County Jail on charges of possessing child pornography. Keith Stewart Everitt, 31, of 11000 Gulf Blvd., was charged by Florida Department of Law Enforcement officials Thursday with 18 counts of possessing videotapes that featured children performing various sex acts. The titles included The Royal Wedding, Mr. Trim, and Snooker Championship 1985 Highlights. Everitt is being held on a $180,000 bail.

Corrections Gov. Bob Martinez's proposed budget provides $1.8-million for the Florida Marine Institute's program to track the life cycles of commercial and sporting fish, habitat research and the institute's manatee program. A story in Friday's City Times incorrectly described the manatee program.
