2 die when cars crash in New Port Richey

NEW PORT RICHEY _ A 62-year-old Canadian woman and an 88-year-old New Port Richey man died after the Oldsmobile they were riding in was broadsided by a Dodge pickup about 6:20 p.m. Friday on U.S. 19, according to the New Port Richey Police Department. Another passenger in the car, a 75-year-old woman, was treated and released from Bayfront Medical Center. The truck was being driven by a New Port Richey woman, 29. Her husband, 31, was a passenger. They were both treated and released from Riverside Hospital. According to Officer George Pleasant, the Oldsmobile pulled off Lindner Place going west on U.S. 19 when it was hit. NEW PORT RICHEY _ A 67-year-old man who was hit by a car Friday afternoon while crossing U.S. 19 in Bayonet Point died early Saturday, a spokeswoman with the Florida Highway Patrol said. Frank Palmer, of 7 Oaks Travel Park in Hudson, was flown to Bayfront Medical Center after being hit by a car driven by Rachelle Renee Huey, 19, of New Port Richey, according to the Highway Patrol.
