A fire that destroyed an unoccupied home at Cummer and Coit roads early Saturday was set deliberately, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report. A sheriff's deputy in the area saw the flames, but when he arrived at the home he could not determine whether anyone was inside because of the intense heat and smoke, the report said. It was later discovered that no one was inside, but the fire caused about $25,000 damage to the house, the report said.

County Fire Inspector James Johnson of the Dade City Fire Department told the deputy he believed arson caused the fire, the report said.
