Bombs exploded in two grocery stores in this Atlanta suburb Saturday afternoon, shortly after the stores were evacuated because of telephoned bomb threats. Roswell police dispatcher Jill Moore said a caller telephoned a Cub Foods and a Kroger, saying that bombs would explode between 1:30 and 2 p.m.
The stores were evacuated and the bombs exploded at 2 p.m., she said.
No injuries were reported.
Rita Amatoolie, a shopper, said the evacuation was orderly. She said shoppers were advised over the public address system that there was an emergency and that they should leave their carts and get out of the store.
Once outside, she said, the shoppers were told of the bomb threat.
Ms. Moore said the caller also threatened two other grocery stores, a Big Star and Winn-Dixie, and that FBI agents and bomb specialists had been sent to those stores to search for bombs.
