Crocheted buttons add zest to this vest

This is no ho-hum design in a time when vests are a hot item on the fashion scene. A delight for those who love to crochet, it's easily worked in one piece from the neck down. Two stitches predominate _ the double crochet and an easy post stitch. Attractive variegation is achieved by the combination of a solid color worsted-weight acrylic yarn and an ombre one.

A row of crocheted buttons that you make from the variegated yarn marches down the front of the vest. Simple to make, crocheted buttons always match the garment, cost much less than purchased buttons, are washable and, if you lose one, you can just make another.

The gauge is three double crochets to the inch, and easy-to-follow directions are written for small, medium and large sizes with finished bust measurements of 36{, 39{ and 42 inches.
