Second-grader to be honored for poster

Danny Belden, a second-grade student at Pleasant Grove Elementary School, will be honored by the Citrus County Smoke-Free Class of 2000 Committee at the Feb. 27 School Board meeting. Belden represented Citrus County in a recent statewide poster contest sponsored by the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association and the American Lung Association.Lecanto Middle

LECANTO _ The following students were winners for their grade level spelling bees at Lecanto Middle School:

Sixth grade _ Chris Bergstrom, Jake Myers, Danielle White (alternate).

Seventh grade _ Jeffrey Sunman, Lori Hurst, Jason Warren (alternate).

Eighth grade _ Brian Gardner, Mark Marquese, Dylan Johnson (alternate).

The students will compete in the March 7 county spelling bee at the Lecanto Middle School.

Crystal River High

CRYSTAL RIVER _ The Crystal River High School academic team took first place Feb. 10 at the annual PTK Brain Bowl competition at Central Florida Community College in Ocala. This is the second year in a row that the school's team earned first-place honors. The team coach is teacher Jeanne Hartley.

Some of the students competed with students from eight other counties in Central Florida in Ocala Friday.

Complimentary concert tickets are available

TAMPA _ The Tampa Bay Symphony will make complimentary tickets available to students for its second series of the 1989-1990 concerts.

The concerts will feature the soloist winners of the recent Tampa Bay Symphony's Young Artists' Competition.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Coliseum in St. Petersburg; at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at St. Petersburg Junior College; and at 4 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.
