A man struck and killed by a car late Saturday may have been sitting in the middle of the street when he was hit, police said. The man, whose identity had not been verified late Saturday, was dragged about 75 feet after a car hit him in the 800 block of 22nd Avenue S.
Several witnesses told police that the victim had been sitting in the street, acting police Sgt. Reggie Oliver said.
Police suspect the victim had been the subject of a complaint of drunk and disorderly conduct minutes earlier at a nearby Texaco station. Police were responding to a complaint at the station when the accident occurred.
The name of the driver was not available late Saturday.
