The overflowing Class A, District 10 boys basketball tournament begins today at Keswick Christian. Fourteen teams seek the title that will be decided Saturday. Host Keswick is the top seed. Despite the Crusaders' 28-4 record, they are cautious favorites. They have had two close games with second-seeded Shorecrest (17-4), have lost twice to third-seeded Sarasota Christian, and lost this past Saturday to fifth-seeded St. Petersburg Catholic.
Keswick and Shorecrest received first-round byes and do not begin play until Thursday. Today's first-round games match Admiral Farragut against New Port Richey Christian (4:30 p.m.), St. Petersburg Catholic against Northside Christian (6:15 p.m.) and Lakeside Christian against Canterbury (8 p.m.)
First-round games continue Tuesday. Wednesday is a day off.
The other local district tournaments begin later in the week.
