St. Petersburg Yacht Club team wins PHRF championship

The St. Petersburg Yacht Club sailed away with the PHRF Championships over the weekend, beating the Davis Island Yacht Club team by more than 30 points. Also, the Vice-Commodore's Cup and Talbot Cup were held concurrently on Saturday. Joe Nuzzo's Hot Tuna won the spinnaker division I and overall title in the Talbot Cup, and racing division I in Vice-Commodore.

"We just had a good, fun day, and we are ready for the next Boat-of-the-Year race," said Nuzzo. However, he finished a disappointing sixth Sunday for the Treasure Island PHRF team.

Lack of wind presented a problem, first delaying Saturday's start and then canceling Sunday's second race, but eight teams from local clubs turned out for the local championship race.
