Man allegedly rams car into girlfriend's brother, is charged with murder attempt

A 29-year-old man was charged with attempted murder after running down his girlfriend's brother after an argument, police said. Lance Gregory Stout, 8030 47th Ave. N, Apt. A, rammed his Chevrolet Blazer into Cary Lopez at 8222 49th Ave N about 6 p.m., Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies said. Witnesses said Stout looked over his shoulder and fled. Lopez was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition Monday. Stout was arrested at Humana Hospital on 66th Street and 38th Avenue N and booked in the Pinellas County Jail without bond. Deputies said they did not know what the argument was about.ST. PETERSBURG _ Philip Dale Landon threatened to get an acquaintance arrested for selling marijuana from his apartment, police said. Instead, he ended up in the Pinellas County Jail on an extortion charge. Landon, 30, of 824 88th Ave. N, was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail Monday after demanding money and a quarter-pound of marijuana late Saturday night from an acquaintance, Gulfport police said. The victim told police he gave Landon $197 because Landon appeared to be dangerous and high on drugs, jail records show. Police said Landon told the victim to have the marijuana ready for him by 5 p.m. the next day. Sunday, he called the victim twice, telling him to meet him later that day, police said. When Landon arrived, so did police, and Landon was arrested.
