Vina Del Mar Bridge gets okay

The Vina Del Mar Bridge, a span one-tenth of a mile long that was badly deteriorating a few years ago, now is in good shape, a state auditor has concluded. The bridge connects the neighborhood of Vina Del Mar with the Pass-a-Grille area of St. Petersburg Beach. It was repaired in 1987. Assistant City Manager Danny Walker said the state Department of Transportation has given the bridge a 55.2 rating out of 110. Bridges rated 25 points or less are considered structurally deficient, he said. A similar bridge connecting Boca Ciega Island has been rated 15 and will be replaced within the next few months, Walker said.Macintosh Swap Meet is today
