An 18-year-old Lecanto man was arrested early Wednesday and accused of burglarizing Lecanto High School, records show. Alan Dunn, of 4235 S Halo Hills Ter., was charged with burglary of an occupied structure and possession of burglary tools. He was released Wednesday from the Citrus County Jail on $8,500 bail, a jail spokesman said.
A Citrus County sheriff's deputy was on routine patrol about 1 a.m. Wednesday when he noticed that a school window was broken, according to an arrest affidavit on file at the jail.
The deputy and three other officials searched the school area with a department canine unit and found Dunn near the school's courtyard, the affidavit said. Also near the school were a ski mask, gloves and socks.
Two teens accused of setting fire at school
INVERNESS _ Investigators arrested two Lecanto Middle School pupils Tuesday on charges of setting a fire in a school garbage can.
The boys, whose names are withheld because of their ages, are charged with attempted first-degree arson, investigator Ken Clamer said. Clamer said the boys, ages 13 and 15, are accused of setting the fire Friday morning. Another pupil extinguished the blaze, and no one was injured, Clamer said.
Clamer said county authorities intend to prosecute all fire-related incidents that occur at schools.
