Man accused of selling sick pets

HUDSON _ The owner of a pet store under investigation by county officials was issued a citation Tuesday night on charges that he has sold diseased animals, said Denise Hilton, a supervisor with the county's Animal Control Center. Jeff Price of the Pet Connection, 11032 State Road 52, was issued the citation after complaints about diseased dogs at his store. The citation carries a possible $75 fine, Hilton said. One puppy sold earlier this month died from a contagious disease.County set for Special Olympics

DADE CITY _ Organizers are gearing up for the annual countywide Special Olympics, beginning March 1 at Pasco Comprehensive High School. More than 500 youngsters ages 7 to 18 are expected to participate in the event. Events include track, softball throw, soccer skills, volleyball, cycling and roller skating, said Ingrid Forbes, site coordinator. Winners will compete in a district meet at Clearwater High School in May, with state games in June in Gainesville. The opening ceremony, which includes a parade, will start about 10:30 a.m. at the stadium. Volunteers who wish to participate should call Ms. Forbes at (904) 567-6721.

Correction

Barefoot in the Park will be presented at 8 p.m. today and Friday by the Lamplight Theater at Spartan Manor, 6121 Massachusetts Ave., New Port Richey. Different dates were published Wednesday because of incorrect information provided to the Times.
