PRIME-TIME PICK

Michelle Phillips, who was once best known as a founding member of the '60s rock group Mamas & the Papas, returns to Knots Landing (10 p.m., WTVT-Channel 13) in the role of Anne Matheson, the role she created in the series' 1986-87 season. Anne is the jet-setting mother of Paige (Nicollette Sheridan) and former lover of Mack (Kevin Dobson). She returns to Knots Landing in an apparent attempt to reconcile differences with her long-estranged daughter. But, as these things go on prime-time soap operas, she develops an interest in Greg Sumner (William Devane), an old family friend from her youth. Also joining the cast with this episode is Chris Lemmon, who was recently written out of the Fox comedy Open House. Lemmon plays Jeff Cameron, associate producer of the TV show hosted by Karen (Michele Lee). This week, police catch up to the man who murdered Mary Frances and critically wounded Greg; Anne arrives to complicate Paige's life; and Karen is impressed by Jeff._ JON BURLINGAME, TV Data
