4 remain hospitalized after wreck

Four people who were seriously injured in a head-on collision on McMullen-Booth Road Wednesday remained in the hospital Thursday as Pinellas County sheriff's officials continued to investigate the accident. Two children, Christian and Theodore Ricca, were at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg on Thursday while their mother, Paula Ricca, 32, was at Tampa General Hospital, officials said.

Christian, 2, was in serious condition in the surgical intensive care unit, a hospital spokeswoman said. Theodore, 6, was in fair condition, the spokeswoman said.

Ms. Ricca was in serious but stable condition at Tampa General.

George N. Bettis Jr., 67, was in critical condition at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Pinellas County Sheriff's Department spokesman Sgt. Greg Tita said Thursday that no charges had been filed.

The four were injured Wednesday afternoon when a van Ms. Ricca was driving veered into oncoming traffic on McMullen-Booth Road near Marlo Road, officials said.

The van collided head-on with a Plymouth Volare driven by Bettis.
