FLORIDIAN -- Prime-Time Pick for 5D for FridayLast year's Nasty Boys finally becomes a weekly series (9 p.m., WFLA-Channel 8). Last year's two-hour pilot didn't make the fall schedule, but when run as a Friday-night movie Sept. 22, the film won its time period and a few critical plaudits as well. The film was rerun on Monday to introduce the series. Dick Wolf, long a producer on Miami Vice, is behind this concept about the real-life drug enforcement team based in North Las Vegas, Nev. Frequently dressed in black Ninja-style outfits to mask their identities, these maverick cops use the cars and weapons they confiscate to further their fight against big-time drug dealers in the Nevada resort area. In the first episode, Dennis Franz joins the cast as Lt. Krieger, the team's new leader. Franz, who is best known for playing Lt. Buntz on Hill Street Blues and later Beverly Hills Buntz, joins original cast members Benjamin Bratt and Don Franklin (both of whom were in Knightwatch), Craig Hurley, Jeff Kaake and James Pax. The story concerns a Colombian accused of manufacturing the new and deadly drug "ice."
