Record American shad caught

James A. Allen of Jacksonville set a state record by catching a 4-pound, 15\-ounce American shad while fishing the upper St. Johns River. Since January 1989, this area of the St. Johns River has produced three state record American shad. The world record weighs 11 pounds, 4 ounces.

Bass pro completes 2 books

Larry Larsen, bass pro and author, has completed the seventh and eighth books in his Bass Series Library.

Trophy Bass teaches methods for catching bass in excess of 7 pounds. Angler's Guide to Bass Patterns points out fishing techniques in various bass hiding spots.
