Baseball City tops Cardinals 6-2

Daren Watkins went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, had two RBI and scored two runs to lead the Baseball City Royals past the St. Petersburg Cardinals 6-2 Friday night. Winning pitcher Greg Harvey went five innings, allowing three hits and two runs.

The Royals took advantage of the Cardinals' sloppy defense. St. Petersburg had five errors on the night.

St. Petersburg plays at Al Lang Stadium at 7:30 tonight against Osceola. The first 1,000 fans will receive a rally towel.

Clearwater 4

CLEARWATER _ The Lakeland Tigers won their seventh game of the year, dropping the Clearwater Phillies 6-4 at Jack Russell Stadium.

Marty Willis picked up his first win of the year in relief with help from Leno Rivera, who gained his first save of the season.

Darryl Martin hit his second homer of the year in the sixth inning. The Clearwater Phillies are on the road for one week. They will return home next Saturday.
