Thomas, a sophomore tailback, led the Falcons to a 24-21 victory over Pinellas Park by rushing for 229 yards on 21 carries, the best running performance in the county this year. Thomas scored on runs of 21 and 46 yards.
Last week was busy for Griffin. Besides maintaining her 3.8 grade-point average and sitting in on the Largo homecoming court, Griffin posted a 5:49 one-mile time, winning a three-team meet on the Largo track.
Valone, a senior split end and strong safety, caught three passes in the Tornadoes' 28-13 win over Northeast. Two of the catches were interceptions (one preventing a score); the other was a 39-yard touchdown reception.
The sophomore finished first in the 100-yard freestyle event at the NSPI Invitational conducted over the weekend in Orlando. Tucker's time of 47.68 seconds is the second-fastest by a Pinellas County swimmer this year.
