A teen-ager was shot Tuesday night after an argument erupted between his companions and youths in another car at a restaurant parking lot, police said. The youth was shot in the leg at 8:50 p.m. as he and a companion, apparently the intended victim of the gunmen, ran from their car at McDonald's, 1661 Fourth St. S. The victim, whose identity was not available late Thursday, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center. St. Petersburg police acting Sgt. Al Broughton said the two groups may have been arguing at another location before driving to the restaurant. TAMPA _ A 56-year-old man was shot and critically wounded in West Tampa on Tuesday evening in a dispute over a woman, Tampa police said. The man, whose identity police have not released, was taken in critical condition to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the chest, police Capt. Silas Brock said. The man was shot at point-blank range as he stood at Howard Avenue and Chestnut Street about 6:15 p.m., police said. Witnesses said two men fled in an orange truck with a white camper top shortly after the shooting.
Bicyclist critically hurt in collision with van
TEMPLE TERRACE - A bicyclist was severely injured Tuesday night when he was struck by a van on Fowler Avenue just east of 56th Street, said Temple Terrace police Capt. Dan Smith. The van, which was traveling about 25 to 30 mph east on Fowler, struck the bicyclist on the edge of the road shortly after 11 p.m., police said. The identity of the bicyclist was not available. He was taken by helicopter in critical condition to Tampa General Hospital.
