In each of the first two series, the 39'ers advanced to the semifinals but lost to the eventual tournament champion.
The 39'ers are scheduled to play this year's preliminary rounds against Seattle, Detroit, Denver, Ventura County, Calif., Delaware County, Del., and Bergen Central, N.J.
