Ethics staff says complaint has no basis

An ethics complaint brought against City Commissioner Linda Adkins has been recommended for dismissal. The staff of the state Commission on Ethics said in a report that there was no legal basis for an investigation. Andrew Dean, who managed Mike Baty's campaign against Adkins in May, filed a complaint against Adkins and Commissioner Kathleen Bambery, saying both had violated the state Government-in-the-Sunshine Law.

The two "were seen sitting on a bench outside City Hall in heated discussion," May 24, Dean said. Adkins said the two were talking about their families.

"I'm glad. There was nothing there," Adkins said Wednesday night. "It was frivolous. I hope that people will realize we need to put all of this behind us."

The allegation against Bambery also was recommended for dismissal earlier.
