The Tampa Airport Marriott and LifeLink of Florida will co-sponsor a brunch and auction beginning at 10 a.m. today in the Marriott Grand Ballroom. The auction will benefit 28-year-old Beth Thorne, a PBX supervisor for Marriott who has primary pulmonary hypertension, a rare disease that causes elevated blood pressure in the lung, eventually causing heart failure. The only cure for the disease is a lung-heart transplant.
Auction sponsors hope to raise $10,000 to help cover the cost of a transplant for Thorne.
Several businesses are donating such items as a cruise, a shopping spree and Tampa Bay Buccaneer game tickets. There will be no minimum on bids, and all items will be auctioned.
Tickets are $15, and children younger than 12 are free. Parking will be free in the hotel garage. For information, call the Marriott at 879-5151 or LifeLink of Florida at 253-2640, Ext. 196.
