TAMPA _ A Hillsborough County corrections officer and his wife were arrested Friday and charged with defrauding a Tampa credit union of about $140,000. Randall V. Rowles, 39, and Laura E. Rowles, 38, both of Valrico, are named in a 33-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury Thursday. According to the indictment, Mrs. Rowles worked as a VISA accounts specialist at Bay Gulf Federal Credit Union between 1984 and 1988 and used her position to get VISA cards and make false entries in credit union records. The Rowleses used the VISA cards from Bay Gulf to get cash, goods and services, the indictment states. Both were released Friday after signing $10,000 unsecured bonds. The case was investigated by the Postal Inspector's Service and the FBI.
