Four St. Petersburg men were charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting Thursday at the Condon Gardens housing development, police said. The unidentified victim was not injured, Clearwater police spokesman Wayne Shelor said.
Those charged were Michael Banks, 22, of 2346 12th Ave. S; Jamal C. Cooper, 20, 1051 Third Ave. N, No. F2; Andre C. Miller, 20, of 770 37th Ave. S; and Curtis Lee Mount, 20, of 1338 33rd St. S, police said.
The men were accused of confronting a man about 10 p.m. Thursday at Tanglewood Drive near Sandlewood Drive and trying to rob him, according to a police report. When the victim ran, three of the men fired shots, the report stated.
Shelor said there had been "bad blood" between the victim and the suspects.
The men drove away in a white 1986 Chevrolet Cavalier.
They were arrested after a Clearwater police officer saw the car traveling south on U.S. 19 near Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard, Shelor said.
Three handguns, a .357-caliber, a .32-caliber and a .22-caliber, were found, Shelor said.
All four men were being held at the Pinellas County Jail on charges of attempted murder, and armed robbery, police said. Banks was charged with an additional count of possessing cocaine after deputies found 1.5 grams of crack cocaine.a report stated.
