LSU (4-2) is coached by Mike Archer (26-14-1, fourth year); No. 12 FSU (4-2) is coached by Bobby Bowden (126-42-3, 15th year).Last week: LSU defeated Kentucky 30-20; FSU lost to Auburn 20-17.
Game plan: The Seminoles will start Casey Weldon at quarterback and try to utilize his scrambling ability and knack for throwing the ball downfield. That should help open up the FSU offense, which has struggled at times. The Seminoles are only 28-of-31 in third-down conversions (34.6 percent). FSU has also been penalized 173 times for 385 yards, an average of 64 yards per game. The Seminoles will be playing against an LSU defense that has no senior starters. Offensively, LSU quarterback Chad Loup, a redshirt freshman, did not get his first start until the fourth game of the season. Tailback Harvey Williams rushed 28 times for a career-high 213 yards last week against Kentucky.
Notes: This will be LSU's first game in Tallahassee. FSU leads the series 5-2, with a 5-1 record at LSU's Tiger Stadium. The teams also played in the 1968 Peach Bowl. FSU cornerback Errol McCorvey gets to see his brother, Darriel, this weekend. Darriel is LSU's starting strong safety. He leads LSU in tackles.
