Northside Christian, behind Kenny Locke's three touchdown passes, routed St. Petersburg Catholic 40-7 Friday night. Locke passed for 208 yards, completing 13 of 24 attempts with no interceptions.
The Mustangs scored by nearly every means possible in breaking open what started out as a close, hard-fought game.
Steve Norris scored two first half touchdowns to give Northside a 14-7 lead, on a 7-yard run and a 9-yard pass from Locke. Lee Shawn Thomas accounted for the Baron's lone score, on a 5-yard run.
The second half was dominated by the Mustangs, as Locke passed for his other touchdowns, 42 yards to Chris Bradley and 9 yards to Steve Webster.
Chad Richason returned an interception 41 yards for another score, and Northside finished up the rout when Brian Clark returned a punt 45 yards before fumbling into the end zone, where teammate Rich James recovered.
The Mustangs raised their record to 4-3, while the Barons dropped to 2-5.
"We knew we could throw the ball," Northside coach Bob Dare said. "They forced our hand to throw, and we moved the ball pretty consistently."
