Three people have been charged with burglarizing five rooms at the Howard Johnson hotel. The three, identified in jail records as a used car salesman, a carnival worker and an unemployed secretary, were arrested Friday with a duffle bag and briefcase that contained files, pliers, screwdrivers, lock parts, blank keys, pin tumblers and lock assemblies, the records said.
Police charged James D. Burke, 39, of 1409 Westwood St. in Tampa, with possession of burglary tools and five counts of burglary. He was wanted on warrants from Indian River County for three counts of fraudulent use of credit cards.
Michael P. Podniestrzanski, 35, of 2237 Hidden Meadow in Palm Harbor, was charged with possession of burglary tools.
Kandi Alexander, 38, of U.S. 41 S in Ruskin, was arrested on a warrant for three counts of passing worthless checks in Manatee County and five counts of burglary.
They were arrested at the Pinellas Bayway toll plaza and were in the Pinellas County Jail on Saturday.
