State Road 50 to get Starvin' Marvin store

Starvin' Marvin is coming to State Road 50. It's not who, but what.

Starvin' Marvin is a chain of convenience stores operated by Embro Marketing Co., a subsidiary of the Findlay, Ohio-based Marathon Petroleum Co.

Earlier this month, Embro and Marathon got the county's approval to build a Starvin' Marvin convenience store and an adjoining Speedway gasoline station at Barclay Avenue and SR 50, across from the Brookridge subdivision.

Officials with Marathon and with Embro are mum about the new development.

But plans they submitted to the county's Development Review Committee tell just about everything about the store, right down to the size of the bolts used to hang the signs.

The plans call for a 1,700-square-foot Starvin' Marvin convenience store to be built. Most of the remaining space on the 1{-acre lot will be taken by the multi-island Speedway filling station and parking area.

The gas station-convenience store will be a lot like a Speedway/Starvin' Marvin store operated by Embro and Marathon on U.S. 41 in Brooksville.

Construction on the SR 50 store and gas station is expected to begin within the next two months.
