A Valrico man was killed early Sunday when his 1990 Chevrolet Cavalier slammed into a chain-link fence and a utility pole in northeast Tampa. Delano McKinley, 24, of 301 Heridge Hillway was driving east on E Broadway Avenue about 1:50 a.m. when he hit a concrete island in the middle of the street, police said. McKinley was driving about 100 mph, police said. He rammed into the fence at Broadway and 67th Street and then hit a utility pole.Suspect sought in restaurant robberies
ZEPHYRHILLS _ A man robbed a restaurant during the dinner hour Sunday after asking about a job and then pulling a gun on a clerk, police said. Just after 7 p.m., the man approached an employee of Shoney's Restaurant at State Road 54 and Interstate 75 and ordered her into the manager's office, police spokesman Jon Powers said. He forced employees to open the safe and fled with an undisclosed amount of money, Powers said. No one was injured. The suspect is described as white , in his late 20s, about 5 feet 8, with a medium build and dark brown hair. He was wearing a yellow shirt, a gold chain with a medallion and a black jacket. Police think the same man held up Sonny's Bar-B-Q in Zephyrhills about 6:30 p.m.
