TAMPA _ Lisa Kippenberger Wrenn, senior media developer for HomeBuyer's Guide magazine, has been elected to the 1990-91 board of directors of the Builder's Association of Greater Tampa. The board is elected by association members to lead the professional organization, which serves construction-related businesses in Hillsborough County. Wrenn, who earned a marketing degree from Florida State University, will begin a one-year term in November.
TAMPA _ Mark D. Jasperson has announced his association with David W. Steen in a law practice limited to bankruptcy and loan workouts. Jasperson is the former senior law clerk to Alexander L. Paskay, chief bankruptcy judge. In addition, he is a former workout loan officer and has earned bachelor's and law degrees from the University of Florida and a master's degree from Rollins College. Southland is a business appraisal firm, performing valuations of stock, businesses and professional practices for a variety of purposes, including estate planning, litigation and employee stock ownership plans.
TAMPA _ Carlton, Fields, Ward, Emmanuel, Smith & Cutler, P.A., has appointed Vernon E. Jones Jr. as director of human resources. Jones will assume responsibility for administration of human resources, including employee benefits, salary administration and performance evaluation. He also will supervise the Tampa office secretarial and reception staff. Jones graduated from Seton Hall University in New Jersey with a bachelor's degree in psychology.
BRANDON _ Brandon Surgi-Center opened its doors Tuesday at 711 S Parsons Ave. The 10,000-square-foot outpatient surgery center features four operating rooms, GI and urology procedure rooms and several rooms for laser procedures. The center is operated by Medical Care International in cooperation with four other bay area outpatient surgery centers. The 50 surgeons who will use the center have credentials for outpatient surgery in their specialties, which include gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, urology, gastroenterology, pulmonary medicine, podiatry, ear/nose/throat, plastic and general surgery. More than $1-million of the latest surgical equipment has been installed at the center. The center employs 15 registered nurses, certified surgical technicians and business office personnel.
TAMPA _ The Shops on Harbour Island has added two stores to the collection of boutiques, fast food eateries and full-service restaurants available to downtown shoppers. The two new shops will be called R.J.'s for men and Marilee for ladies, owned and operated by the Aplin family who operate Aplin's at Harbour Island. In the 4,300 square feet of retail space, the shops offer men's and ladies' career clothing, sportswear, lingerie and beachwear along with matching accessories, including fine jewelry. R.J.'s and Marilee are on the second level of the Shops in the main fashion court.
TAMPA _ The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations recently awarded Hospice of Hillsborough accreditation status. Hospice is a non-profit organization that provides physical, emotional and spiritual supportive care to the county's terminally ill patients and their families. Hospice of Hillsborough joins only 365 other hospices nationwide that have received recognition of high quality care, and only one of 63 independent hospice agencies to receive accreditation.
TAMPA _ H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute recently received three-year accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The center will receive a letter of commendation for scoring more than 90 percent on the survey. "The report represents the highest possible achievement and is a reflection on the careful preparation and hard work of the staff and physicians," said Nicolas Porter, executive director.
TAMPA _ The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations has given its seal of approval to Centurion Hospital of Carrollwood. The hospital received a three-year accreditation. "This is an unusual achievement for such a young institution, and it represents an important step in Centurion's development," said administrator F.W. "Bill" Chambers.
