U.S. Sen. Bob Graham stopped in Tallahassee on Monday to campaign and work the telephones for his former colleague, Lawton Chiles. Graham also told a cute story about trying to give the Chiles people a $100 check from his 3-day-old granddaughter, Sarah Glynn Logan.
Graham said Chiles's running mate, Buddy MacKay, rejected the check because the child isn't old enough. Graham termed the decision "bureaucratic." The Chiles people, who are limiting donations to $100, say they are trying to screen gifts from children.
Graham also brought about $3,800 in checks from some people who should pass the age test _ former congressional colleagues of Chiles.
