Man charged in rape at party

A 27-year-old man charged with raping a young woman at a Halloween party Saturday was being held Monday in the Hernando County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. Jeremy Bowen, who lives in Hernando County and is employed as a kitchen worker, was arrested Sunday and charged with one count of sexual battery. The arrest affidavit alleges that Bowen led the victim to a shed, where he shoved her to the ground, told her repeatedly that he loved her, then raped her. SPRING HILL _ A 5-month-old Spring Hill boy was in stable condition Monday in the intensive-care unit at Lykes Memorial Hospital in Brooksville after the family's dog bit him in the genitals. According to the Sheriff's Office report, the mother heard the child cry Sunday, then entered his room and discovered that the dog, a cross between a Pekingese and poodle known as a peekapoo, had bitten into the baby's diapers. The parents took the boy to the hospital, where he underwent surgery. According to the report, the parents are being investigated by the state Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services for possible child neglect.
