What better way to celebrate Halloween Eve than with the network TV debut of the horror-comedy hit Beetlejuice (9 p.m., WTVT-Channel 13)? This 1988 film stars Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis as a nice couple who, in the first few minutes of the movie, die in a car crash. Their spirits continue to hang around their New England home, however, and to their horror the house is newly occupied by a pretentious New York City couple (Jeffrey Jones, Catherine O'Hara) and their weird daughter (Winona Ryder). The madness is topped off by a ghostly con man (Michael Keaton) who promises help to the concerned spirits. Directed by Tim Burton (Batman) and boasting the first of several creepy scores by Danny Elfman (Nightbreed, Batman), this film won an Oscar for its makeup, particularly the outrageous creature creations of Robert Short (Splash, Cocoon)._ TV Data
