14 students honored at Principal's Brunch

Osceola High School Principal Rick Misenti honored 14 students Oct. 9 at the first Principal's Brunch of the 1990-91 school year. Each student was nominated by a teacher, guidance counselor or administrator at the school. Their selection was based on attitude, respect for others, good or improved attendance, school spirit and citizenship.

Students honored were Kerri Dunn, Geneka Field, Vincent Flournoy, Tiffany Forehand, Tehrea Grant, Tamiko Keaton, Joanna Morris, Chuck Munger, Kim Nugent, Chris Patterson, Thurmond Rucker, Nakieta Thornton, Danielle Williams and James Williams.

The Lake Seminole Kiwanis Club sponsored the Principal's Brunch.


Student named to college office

Christine Hutchens, daughter of Ursula Hutchens of Seminole, has been appointed the 1990-91 secretary/treasurer of SEARCH (Seeking Environmental Awareness and Restoring Common Humanness) at Marymount University in Arlington, Va.

Student elected vice president

Sarah Yazback, daughter of Nazem and Vickie Yazback of Clearwater, has been elected vice president of her class at Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga. Ms. Yazback is a freshman at Wesleyan.


Clearwater man earns UF degree

James Robert Plaia has graduated with honors from the University of Florida, receiving a bachelor's degree in material science engineering.

Plaia is a member of the Metals, Minerals, Materials Society/American Society for Metals; Alpha Sigma Mu Metallurgical Honor Society; Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society; Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity; and Golden Key National Honor Society.

He is attending graduate school at the university as a Florida Graduate Scholar and a research assistant.

Plaia is a 1986 graduate of Clearwater High School. He is the son of Jim and Terry Plaia of Clearwater.

Harvard honors Clearwater man

Adam Kissel, son of Jerry and Rhea Kissel of Clearwater, has been named the 1990 Best Freshman Band Member at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.

Kissel, valedictorian of the 1990 graduating class at Countryside High School, is a biochemistry major at Harvard.

FSU graduate takes marketing job

Cliff Snedeker III, son of Deanna and Cliff Snedeker of Clearwater and a 1984 graduate of Clearwater High School, has accepted a position as marketing representative for Armstrong World Industries.

Snedeker graduated from Florida State University in 1988 with a bachelor of science degree in marketing.

Military news

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Donald W. Jordan, son of Patricia Jordan of Largo, is deployed to the Middle East for Operation Desert Shield. Jordan is serving aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Biddle.

Airman Kelly L. Clark, daughter of Darvin and Nancy Clark of Tarpon Springs, has completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. She is a 1990 graduate of Tarpon Springs High School.

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Richard T. White, son of Donna Kent of Dunedin, has returned from deployment to the Mediterranean Sea while serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Eisenhower.
