WILLIAM P. SLICHTER, 68, a former executive director at AT&T Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, N.J., whose research contributed to the development of the semiconductor, died Thursday in Chatham, N.J., of cancer. BROTHER GREGORY PAUL SPRISSLER, 83, president of LaSalle University from 1945 to 1952, died Saturday in Philadelphia of cardiac arrest.

MAURICE HEXTER, 99, a leading fund-raiser for Jewish causes that included rebuilding homes destroyed by Jewish-Arab rioting, died Saturday in New York City.
