Springstead High School recently announced that Brian Klinzing was named a Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship Program. A letter of commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corp., which conducts the program, will be presented to Klinzing. Regional DECA awards are won
DECA students from Hernando High School recently attended a regional leadership development conference in Daytona Beach. Several students competed and won in individual categories.
School is collecting register tapes
Deltona Elementary School in Spring Hill is collecting register tapes from Publix supermarkets to earn Apple computer equipment and software, through the "Apples for the Students" Partnership for Education Program.
Anyone who wants to donate register tapes can bring them to the school or call 683-6326.
Cookies to be sent to soldiers
The Home Economics Related Occupations (HERO) Chapter of Hernando High School recently announced its third annual "Cookies From Home" project.
As a service to the community and the family of Hernando High School graduates, the club members will send five dozen chocolate chip cookies to any former Hernando High student serving in the armed services, away from home during the holidays.
If you would like to have cookies sent, the club needs the person's name, mailing address, year of graduation, name of person requesting the cookies, relationship to the recipient and a phone number by Friday.
