Published Oct. 12, 2005

Greg Pike scored 13 of his team-high 18 points in the final 10 minutes and the Eckerd Tritons muscled their way past St. Anselm College 85-79 Wednesday night. The Tritons (7-4) closed out their non-conference schedule with their second win in a row despite John Freiermuth's 39 points for the Hawks (3-7).

Freiermuth, a 6-foot-4 junior forward, made 7 of 12 three-point shots and scored 18 of the Hawks' final 22 points. The Tritons, meanwhile, were hitting 13 of 18 free throws to maintain their lead.

"I was pleased with the intensity level," said Eckerd coach Jim Harley. "We need to sustain that for 40 minutes. I'm pleased with the progress of our team."

Eckerd couldn't shake loose of the Hawks, who were whistled for 22 fouls, until freshman guard Tony Lovett nailed two three-pointers in the closing minutes of the first half to give the Tritons a 40-36 lead.
