A Washington County couple sued the Carnival Cruise company and claimed a boat trip along Mexico's shores was a "painful, exhausting experience." A Carnival Cruise spokeswoman in Miami had no comment on the lawsuit filed Friday by Jeffrey and Brenda Walther in Allegheny County court.
The Walthers, of Washington, began a seven-day trip from Los Angeles to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas on Aug. 7.
They claimed the trip didn't live up to its advertised billing.
The couple said the diversions were monotonous, the employees were rude and passengers were reminded several times over loudspeakers how much to tip the staff.
They claimed the smell of marijuana permeated the halls, children were noisy in the casino and there wasn't enough space at the deck, pool and show halls for the people who wanted to use them.
The Walthers asked for $3,306 in reimbursement of trip costs and tips, as well as unspecified punitive damages.
The trip left the Walthers in "a condition of anxiety," the lawsuit said.
