A Pine Hills man was arrested late Friday night and charged with driving under the influence/manslaughter after his car crossed the center lane of State Road 50, hitting a car and killing the driver. The 10:40 p.m. accident occurred 14 miles east of Brooksville. The dead person, who has not been identified, was the fifth traffic fatality in Hernando County this year, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Christopher Collins, 27, who works for a water proofing company in Orlando, was taken to Humana Hospital, Pasco in Dade City after the accident. He was treated and then arrested. He also was charged with driving with a suspended license and remained in the Hernando County Jail on $10,500 bond. Four other people in the victim's car. Mary Rios, 16, Thochillo Cruz, 23, Maribel Montanez, 16, and Javier Baltazar, 18, all of Dade City, were treated at Humana and released.
