Singing group tunes up for membership drive

A membership drive is under way by the Floridian Gulf Chorus, Sweet Adelines International. Women of all ages who love to sing and can carry a tune are welcome to attend a special membership drive night from 7 to 10 p.m. today at Pinehill Village, 5905 Pinehill Road, Port Richey.

Officers for the 1991-92 year were installed recently during ceremonies at a dinner at Leisure Beach Inn in Hudson.

They are Chris Becker, president; Charline Garvey, vice president; Catherine Funk, treasurer; Eve Brush, corresponding secretary; and Maxine Motz, recording secretary.

Board members are Nancy Means, historian; Jean Phillips, ways and means; Joann Selleck, photographer.

Chairwomen are Roslynn Webb, costumes; Rosemarie Boyle, membership; Carole Buza, music; Kathie Roberts, public relations; Marilyn Peterson and JoAnn Sarro, social; Edie Sanders, choreographer; Jean McKenzie, sunshine; Shirley Kleinschmidt, travel; and Carol King, show.

County Code Manager is speaker

Tom Brobell, County Code Manager of Minimum Housing Standards, will be the speaker when the Pasco League of Women Voters meets for a "hot issues" Dutch treat luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sadie's Cafeteria, U.S. 19, Port Richey.

Brobell will discuss the current housing standards in Pasco County and whether there is a need for change.

There will be a question and answer period.

Knights sponsor dinner-dance

The Knights of Columbus, Father Farrell Council 6476 is sponsoring a dinner-dance Wednesday at the council hall, 2040 Grand Boulevard, Holiday.

Tickets are $5 per person. A cash bar opens at 5 p.m., and dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. to be followed by dancing to the music of "T.J."

CARES schedules travel presentation

Cindy Levine of Gulf Coast Travel will give a demonstration on "How to Pack For Your Trips" at a public meeting at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Aging and Retirement Center (CARES) Center, 7505 Rottingham Road, Port Richey.

The meeting is scheduled in the activity room of the center.

Telephone Pioneers name officers

Minnie Bousquet has been installed to serve as 1991-92 president of the Telephone Pioneers of America Holiday Life Member Club.

Other officers installed at a recent luncheon meeting at Seven Springs Country Club are Florence Tranchase, secretary; Larry Weber, treasurer; Florence Cuff, Marie Switalsky and Jean Small, members-at-large. Margae Casey will continue in the post of chaplain.

Clyde Butler, Pioneers activity supervisor from Largo, served as the installing officer.

The club meets at 2 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month at the Colonial Hills clubhouse, 3852 Prime Way, New Port Richey. The group will recess after a picnic planned from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Anderson Park, Shelter 5, Tarpon Springs.

The next meeting is for at 2 p.m. on Sept. 11.

Group to award scholarships

The German-American Social Club of New Port Richey will award scholarships to two students at Ridgewood High School who have excelled in the study of the German language.

The presentation is scheduled during an awards ceremony Wednesday at the school, 7650 Orchid Lane Road, New Port Richey.

At a business meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Colonial Hills clubhouse, 3852 Prime Way, New Port Richey, plans will be discussed for the last social of the season.

Dorothy Masel will be in charge of the social _ "A Gemutlicher Abend and Talent Show" _ June 19 at the clubhouse. Prizes will be awarded.

Doors will open at 5 p.m., a catered dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and dancing to the music of the Fred Band will follow. Tickets are $10 for members and $12 for non-members. Call Marie Kramer, (813) 842-4352. Deadline for reservations and tickets is June 17.

Seminars scheduled at Unity Church

Dee Ann Foresman will conduct a series of seminars on "Life is for Loving" based on a book by Eric Butterworth.

The seminars are scheduled from 7:30 to 9 p.m. each Wednesday beginning this week at Unity Church, 5844 Pinehill Road, Port Richey.

The eight-week series focuses on the discovery and release of one's inner power by applying "Universal Laws of Love."

In this process, the individual becomes able to create desired changes in the quality of life, including improved health, prosperity and loving relationships.

An offering will be accepted.

Foresman, a former school administrator and university professor, received a doctorate at Pennsylvania State University. She has been in Florida since 1985 and has been active in 12 Step Programs and self-help groups. As a private consultant, she conducts workshops and seminars on self-esteem and the personal growth process. She is the new spiritual counselor and director of Family Enrichment Center at Unity Church.

Methodist Women plan salad lunch

The United Methodist Women of Community United Methodist Church, 3214 U.S. 19, Holiday, are sponsoring a salad luncheon and program at noon today at the fellowship hall.

Rex Almquist of the Southeast Asian Relief Organization, will give devotions and show slides from his trip to Southeast Asia late last year.

Staten Islanders plan installation

The Staten Island Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6180, 11551 Osceola Drive, New Port Richey, to make plans for an installation luncheon. New officers will be installed during ceremonies at 1:15 p.m. June 12 at Baypoint Village, 7929 State Road 52, Bayonet Point.

Joe Dixon, founder of the club, will be the installing officer.

Christian women sponsor brunch

The Christian Women's Club of New Port Richey has scheduled a brunch meeting at 10:30 a.m. June 13 at the Seven Springs Country Club, State Road 54, New Port Richey.

The theme is "Promenade." A special feature will be "Lovely to Look At," a style show of prom dresses. Walter Snyder will provide music. Janella Walker of Clearwater will be the vocalist and speaker. Her theme is "Putting it All Together."

Social club plans potluck Wednesday

The New Jersey Social Club has scheduled a potluck luncheon at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at Elfers Senior Center, Grey and Barker, Elfers.

Participants should bring potluck to share.

This will be the final meeting of the season. The group will resume meetings in the fall.
