St. Petersburg man is charged in shooting in bus

A man was charged with attempted murder and carrying a concealed firearm Saturday after a shooting in a Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) bus, police said. Randolph Salavinski, 33, of 2532{ Central Ave., St. Petersburg, was riding in the front of a PSTA bus going south from Clearwater at around 7 p.m. Saturday night when he started yelling at a group of people in the back of the bus to be quiet, said Marianne Pasha, a spokeswoman for the Pinellas County Sheriff's Department.

The driver told Salavinski to go to the back and talk to them, Pasha said.

Salavinski argued with the group, reached into his duffel bag and pulled out a gun.

Jerry Dover, whose age and address were unavailable Sunday, pushed Salavinski's hand away, Pasha said. The gun went off and the bullet went through the floor, she said.

The driver stopped the bus on 62nd Street and Roosevelt Boulevard, Salavinski got out and was later arrested, Pasha said. He was being held at the Pinellas County Jail without bail Sunday.
